I can then see what my 'grocery' expenditure was, etc. i physically sit down, enter my receipts and pore over my transactions from any account and i input it. I don't download files or transfer transactions from credit cards, banks, etc. i also will set a reminder for upcoming bills, etc that i have to take care of. if i have a recurring transaction, it gets put on the calendar. that way, i can see how i spend my money. literally, every transaction i make, or my institutions make, gets inputted. The way i've always used quicken has been VERY basic.
